Our Mission & Purpose

The WeeKidz Ministry exists to provide a safe, nurturing, and Christ‑centered environment for preschoolers (Newborn–4K). Our mission is to begin laying spiritual foundations by guiding children through age‑appropriate Bible stories, meaningful activities, and intentional play. We are committed to creating a welcoming space where every child is cared for, valued, and introduced to the love of God.

Check In Process

When you arrive at SFBC, you will be greeted at the front entrance by one of our volunteers. They will assist you with checking your children into WeeKidz and provide each child with a security sticker placed on their back. After check‑in, you may walk down the hallway to the nursery area and drop your child off with our WeeKidz team. You will then receive a pager so our nursery workers can contact you if your child needs you during the service.

SAFETY

Our SFBC Kidz volunteers are carefully trained to create a safe, welcoming environment where families can confidently leave their children while attending service. Every volunteer is thoroughly screened, including background checks, to ensure the highest level of care and protection. In addition, our kids’ hallway is monitored by security personnel, and each room is equipped with security cameras for added peace of mind. Parents, you can relax and enjoy the service. We’ve got this!

First Time Visting 

When you walk through the front doors of the church, you’ll be greeted by a friendly volunteer at our Weekiz check‑in station. They’ll help you enter your child’s information into our system and guide you to the nursery drop‑off area.

Once you arrive at the nursery, you’ll fill out a brief information sheet so our team can best care for your child. You’ll also receive a pager. If the nursery needs you at any point, we’ll page you right away.

We can’t wait to meet you and your sweet children. Weekidz is ready to love and care for your little ones while you worship.

Weekidz Director: Emma Calcutt 

My name is Emma Calcutt (soon to be Emma Melton). I am blessed to be engaged to an incredible man who supports and encourages me in everything I do. Professionally, I am a hairstylist, but my greatest passion has always been serving the children of our church.

 

I felt God calling me into children’s ministry at just 15 years old, and since then my love for this ministry has continued to grow. I have been a part of South Florence Baptist Church since I was born. I started as a Weekidz child, then had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer, and now I have the incredible privilege of leading the ministry that has impacted my own life so deeply.

 

My greatest priority is helping children build a strong foundation in Jesus Christ. I believe that learning about Him from a young age equips them with truth, hope, and faith that will guide them throughout their lives. I accepted Christ as a teenager at South Florence Baptist Church, and my relationship with Him continues to shape who I am. Each day, my prayer is to grow more like Jesus and to faithfully point the next generation toward Him through love, discipleship, and biblical teaching.
